How To Disconnect a Machine from a Homegroup

The Homegroup feature in Windows 7 is great for sharing files between machines. Sometimes you might find it necessary to leave a Homegroup because you don’t need access to its files or printer. Here we’ll show you the steps for disconnecting from a Homegroup.
Leave Homegroup
When you’re ready to leave a Homegroup it’s probably a good idea to make sure you have downloaded or shared all the files you wanted. After you leave a Homegroup, you and any users on the computer will no longer have access to any of the shared data. Type homegroup into the Search box in the Start Menu and hit Enter.

In the Homegroup Settings windows—under Other homegroup actions click on Leave the homegroup.

In the next window click on Leave the Homegroup. You can choose to not leave but change what your sharing here too which is something to keep in mind if you need to do that at some point.

Give it a moment to disconnect and you’ll get the following message and click Finish.
